Design and 3D Printing

3D Mechanical Design Drafting, can help you develop with 20+ years of practical knowledge and ability, take your design beyond your imagination, turn your ideas and dreams into a well documented design and bring your project into reality.

The first step in developing a new design or altering an existing one is to determine, the needs and the functions for which the design is intended, and its appeal to customers or users. When creating a design, begin by researching the desired design characteristics, such as size, shape, weight, color, materials used, cost, ease of use, fit and safety.

Initially using hand drawn sketches or diagrams and then with the aid of a computer, illustrate the vision for the design. After consulting with the client produce detailed cad drawings, using the 3D model. 3D Computer Aided Design tools are used to create and better visualise the your product design.

3D computer models allow ease and flexibility in exploring a greater number of design alternatives, thus reducing design costs and cutting the time it takes to deliver a product to market.

With research on the use of a product, customer needs, marketing, materials and production methods, we can create the most functional and appealing design that will be competitive with others in the marketplace.

Projects are accessed and quoted according to your requirements at competive hourly rates, or smaller projects at a fixed price.

Recent advances in technology allows you, to get a greater perspective and feel for your product. 3D Pdfs (Right click to "Save target as" if 3D pdf cannot be viewed properly online, you must have Adobe Acrobat Viewer installed with 3D content enabled under Preference, 3D & Multimedia to view correctly) & 3D Printing (Rapid Prototyping) is now available at 3D Mechanical Design Drafting.

With 3D Pdfs, you can visualise and analise your product. Using Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 7 or better) to view and rotate your product model on your home or work computer screen without the use of expensive CAD Software.

3D Printing (Rapid Prototyping) is a cost effective process that produces a physical model from your 3D Cad Model. It allows you the to get a physical feel for your product before any expensive tooling or machining has begun. Can be printed in a variety of materials and colours.

The Equipment and Process.
The 3D Printer (3DP) makes solid, three-dimensional objects out of melted Filament, using ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), PLA (Polylactic Acid) or TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) in various colours. ABS commonly used in LEGO bricks, car parts and bicycle helmets, PLA a biodegradable plastic used in plastic cups to medical implants and TPU a flexible rubber like material, commonly used in phone cases, model car tyres and medical equipment. Your 3D design files are translated into instructions for the 3D Printer and is transferred to the machine via SD card or USB Cable. The 3D Printer then heats the Filament and squeezes it out through a nozzle onto a heated surface to build a solid object, layer by layer. This method is called Fused Filament Fabrication [FFF] or Fused Deposition Modelling [FDM]
