Drafting

Drafting is the integral communication of technical or engineering drawings, representing complex, three-dimensional objects in two-dimensional drawings.

Also known as Technical Drawing it is the technique of creating engineering drawings with the ability to portray the thoughts of Engineers and Designers onto detailed workshop drawings, providing sufficient information to be able to manufacture machines, products, structures, devices, in a cost effective manner.

3D Mechanical Design Drafting uses 3D CAD Software, utilising 3D Parametric Design Technology , which in simple terms means - a 3D model that can be modified extensively simply by changing the parameters used to create it (e.g., dimensions, design constraints). We prepare technical drawings that provide graphic representation, that shows the technical details of your products, specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. Technical details from handbooks, calculations, drawings, rough sketches, and computers are used to complete projects.

Computer Aided Design Drafters , use CAD Software on computers to prepare drawings. The drawings are stored electronically to facilitate revisions and create duplications easily. These CAD systems permit drafters to quickly prepare variations of a design.

The Drafting profession has a number of specialties

Mechanical drafters prepare drawings showing the detail and assembly of a wide variety of machinery and mechanical devices, indicating dimensions, fastening methods, and other requirements.

Structural drafters prepare layout and detail drawings of industrial plant buildings or bridges. They are involved mostly with building materials such as steel, concrete and wood.

Process piping or pipeline drafters prepare drawings used in the layout, construction, and operation of oil and gas fields, refineries, chemical plants, and process piping systems.

Architectural drafters draw architectural and structural features of buildings and other structures. These workers may specialize in a type of structure, such as residential or commercial, or in a kind of material used, such as reinforced concrete, masonry, steel, or timber.

Civil drafters prepare drawings and topographical and relief maps used in major construction or civil engineering projects, such as highways, bridges, pipelines, flood control projects, and water and sewage systems.

Electrical drafters prepare wiring and layout diagrams used by workers who erect, install, and repair electrical equipment and wiring in communication centers, power plants, electrical distribution systems, and buildings.

Aeronautical drafters prepare engineering drawings detailing plans and specifications used in the manufacture of aircraft, missiles, and related parts.

Electronic drafters draw wiring diagrams, circuit board assembly diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings used in the manufacture, installation, and repair of electronic devices and components.
